IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol)

IMAP is a method of accessing electronic mail that are kept on a mail server. It permits a "client" email program to access remote messages stored as if they were local. For example, email stored on an IMAP server can be manipulated from a desktop computer at home, a workstation at the office, and a notebook computer while traveling, without the need to transfer messages or files back and forth between these computers.

IMAP's ability to access messages (both new and saved) from more than one computer has become extremely important as reliance on electronic messaging and use of multiple computers increase, but this functionality cannot be taken for granted: the widely used Post Office Protocol (POP) works best when one has only a single computer, since it was designed to support "offline" message access, wherein messages are downloaded and then deleted from the mail server. This mode of access is not compatible with access from multiple computers since it tends to sprinkle messages across all of the computers used for mail access. Thus, unless all of those machines share a common file system, the offline mode of access that POP was designed to support effectively ties the user to one computer for message storage and manipulation.

Domain name registration
Just like your home, a web site needs an address. A domain name is your web site's address on the Internet e.g. www.yourdomain.com - Sun Imaging registers, transfers and manages domain names for our clientele. (New domains require an initial 2-yr. registration at $32/yr.).

WebMail Box Sizes

Let us know
if you need to increase an eMail box storage size (we feature 10MB, 30 MB and 100MB (or much, much larger!) WebMail boxes).

Custom forms.
An online form allows a web site to gather, store, and use information that visitors to the site provide. Interactive forms store this data in a database where calculations can be performed, text can be written to a text file, or emails can be sent to membership base.

Full service maintenance.
For an annual fee, Sun Imaging can maintain your web site e.g. add content, add/edit copy, add and replace graphics, price changes and handle any issues that arise.

How does online processing and shopping carts work?
Online customers visiting your web site, select items by placing them in a shopping cart and 'check out' by filling out a secure order form including their Credit Card, address and contact information. The transaction is processed either automatically or manually depending on your Payment Gateway.

A third party Payment Gateway and Merchant Account is required to process orders from your web site. There are several solutions out there and you may choose who you prefer.

After receiving a email notification that an order has been placed, the merchant visits a secure administrative web page to view the order info. From here you can either process the transactions manually or via direct deposit into a Merchant Account. The encrypted credit information is electronically routed to a processing center for authorization. You receive authorization of purchase plus the order that you must fulfill. Sun Imaging uses Verisign and Card Service International among other vendors for Credit Card processing.
